About Pahalgam

Pahalgam, popularly known as the Valley of Shepherds, is one of the most beautiful destinations in Kashmir. Surrounded by mountains, pine forests and the Lidder River, it is an ideal destination for travellers looking for nature, adventure and peaceful mountain scenery.

Located in South Kashmir, Pahalgam is approximately 95 kilometres from Srinagar. The drive normally takes around 2½ to 3 hours, depending on traffic, road conditions and sightseeing stops.

Pahalgam also provides access to several famous attractions, including Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, Chandanwari and Baisaran.

Day 1 — Srinagar → Pahalgam

🚗 Start from Srinagar

Start your journey from Srinagar in the morning. Leaving early gives you enough time to enjoy the route and explore Pahalgam after arrival.

📍 Suggested Route

Srinagar → Pampore → Awantipora → Bijbehara → Anantnag → Pahalgam

📍 Stop 1 — Pampore

Pass through Pampore, a region famous for Kashmir's saffron cultivation. You can make a short stop if appropriate.

📍 Stop 2 — Awantipora

If you enjoy history, you can make a short sightseeing stop around the Awantipora area before continuing south.

📍 Stop 3 — Anantnag

Continue towards Anantnag and then take the route towards Pahalgam.

Reach Pahalgam around late morning or afternoon, depending on your stops and traffic. Check into your accommodation and spend the rest of the day exploring Pahalgam town and the Lidder River area.
